John Chau

My heart breaks for the family of this man.

I see folks commenting on this situation, calling the guy delusional, and also blaming religion and missionaries for thinking that their religion will save others.

What I see is a really good person, who did things the way he truly believed to be right, and was willing to risk his life for it. Even if he was naive, and motivated by religious inclinations that defied common sense, there was something innocent about him and his motivations that deserves admiration.

I just can’t read this guy’s story and think he’s anything other than a good person. It’s people like him, and this man here who was murdered outside a place he volunteered at, who have traits that are lacking in most people. He deserves the heaven he believes in.

Here’s a great article about him.
