Rest in Peace, James Horner
I’ve been a fan of original film scores for a good part of my life – so much so that I’d buy them on CD and listen frequently.
I was extremely saddened when James Horner died in a plane crash back in June.
That Time I Volunteered for CASA, and What I Learned
From 2003-2005, I was a court appointed special advocate, or CASA, for Montgomery County, MD. I was given one client, and I spent two years with him before the case was closed.
When I first met him, he was living in a group home, away from his mother as the living conditions at her house weren’t deemed suitable by the county, to put it nicely.

Lake Artemesia
I go to this place every few years to take photos, usually to test out a different camera.
Not much has changed. The 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant is still in ruins, though it was missing the same boarded-up windows as before.
1977 Maryland Renaissance Festival
My mother and grandmother like telling me about the time they took me to the very first Maryland Renaissance Festival. This was in Columbia, long before it moved to Crownsville. I only found these four photos but it was great uncovering them after years of hearing about it. This book says Penn and Teller were there.
