On Friday I attended Craig Laughlin’s charity event and served as a photographer. I’m not usually in photos but after years of seeing former Caps Alan May and Peter Bondra at these events and in the press box, I asked them for a photo.
T.J. Oshie and Tom Wilson were there. As they were auctioning off an Oshie painting and jersey, he re-enacted his beer-drinking celebration right in front of me.
I’ve had a few other memorable moments with Oshie, including the time I was in the background of an interview with him. Moments early I got a quote from him that the other journalists didn’t get: He said he had briefly forgotten that he had been mic’d up for the game. I also asked him about a fight in a pre-season game when he was new to the Caps. The organization wasn’t happy with him fighting but he brushed it off.
